Step beyond the highlights and into the heart of Greece.
Older than almost anywhere on Earth, Greece is a place where the past and present live side by side. Ancient temples rise above lively neighborhoods, seaside tavernas buzz with conversation, and traditions passed down for generations still shape everyday life.
But the true magic of Greece isn’t just found in its monuments. It’s in the flavors of shared meals, the warmth of local hospitality, and the stories that reveal themselves when you travel deeper than the highlights.
That’s exactly why Cherish Tours and Go Eat Give have partnered for this journey. Both companies believe in meaningful travel experiences that go beyond sightseeing to create genuine cultural connections and positive local impact.
On this special one time only trip, you’ll travel alongside the two founders of these mission-driven travel companies.
Award-winning travel writer and Go Eat Give founder Sucheta Rawal has visited Greece dozens of times, and she will share the personal stories, cultural insights, and hidden corners of the country she has discovered through years of exploring beyond the typical tourist path.
Come experience Greece not just as a destination, but through the lens of the people and stories that bring it to life.

Day One (September 20)
Arrive in Athens
Welcome to Greece! Upon arrival at Athens International Airport, you’ll be greeted by our local team and transferred to our centrally located hotel in the heart of the city.
After checking in, take some time to settle in and begin soaking up the atmosphere of one of the world’s most historic cities. Stroll nearby streets, enjoy a coffee at a local café, or simply relax after your travels.
In the evening, the group will gather for a Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant, where you’ll enjoy your first taste of Greek cuisine while meeting your fellow travelers and kicking off the journey together.
Day Two (September 21)
Discover Ancient Athens
After breakfast, we’ll set out to explore the historic heart of Athens with a guided city tour. You’ll visit the iconic Acropolis, the cradle of democracy and one of the most important archaeological sites in the world. From there, continue to the Acropolis Museum, where beautifully preserved artifacts and architectural masterpieces bring the Golden Age of Athens to life.
The afternoon is yours to explore at your own pace. Wander through charming neighborhoods, shop local boutiques, or relax at a sidewalk café before regrouping for dinner together at a local restaurant.
Day Three (September 22)
Athens to Thessaloniki
After breakfast, we’ll check out and transfer to the airport for our short domestic flight north to Thessaloniki, Greece’s vibrant cultural capital. Upon arrival, we’ll transfer to our hotel and settle into our new home for the next several nights.
Later in the afternoon, enjoy a guided walking tour through Thessaloniki’s historic center, where centuries of Greek, Roman, and Byzantine history come together. The evening is yours to explore the city’s lively dining scene or join the group for an optional dinner.
Day Four (September 23)
Explore Thessaloniki
Today, we dive deeper into Thessaloniki’s rich history with a guided city tour.
Highlights include visits to the Castle Walls, the Cathedral of St. Dimitrios, the Rotunda, and the iconic White Tower, each offering insight into the city’s layered past. We’ll also visit the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, home to incredible artifacts from ancient Macedonia.
The afternoon is free for exploring local shops, relaxing at a café, or enjoying the city at your own pace. In the evening, we’ll gather again for dinner at a local restaurant.
Day Five (September 24)
Choose Your Adventure: Meteora or Mount Athos
Today you’ll choose between two unforgettable UNESCO-listed experiences.
Option one takes you to the breathtaking Meteora Monasteries, where centuries-old monasteries sit dramatically atop towering rock formations. Alternatively, enjoy a scenic Mount Athos cruise, offering views of the historic monastic community from the water.
Both options include a delicious local lunch before returning to Thessaloniki in the afternoon.
Day Six (September 25)
Discover Mount Olympus
After breakfast, we’ll travel to the region of Pieria, home to the legendary Mount Olympus—the mythical dwelling place of the Greek gods. Visit the historic Old Saint Dionysios Monastery, then enjoy a gentle walk along the beautiful Enippeas River at the foothills of the mountain. The scenery here offers a peaceful blend of nature, mythology, and history.
We’ll stop for lunch in the charming village of Litochoro before returning to Thessaloniki.
Day Seven (September 26)
Ancient Macedonia & Wine Country
On today's journey, we will visit Aigai, the ancient capital of Macedonia and birthplace of Alexander the Great. Here you’ll explore the Polycentric Museum of Aigai and the remarkable Royal Macedonian Tombs, including the tomb of King Philip II, father of Alexander the Great. These sites offer an incredible glimpse into ancient Greek history.
Afterward, we’ll visit a local winery for a relaxed wine tasting and lunch, celebrating the region’s rich culinary traditions before returning to Thessaloniki for our final evening together.
