We recommend checking government websites for official, up-to-date information on your entry requirements, but so that you have a general understanding of what to expect, you will need:
• A valid passport with at least six months of validity remaining beyond your travel dates
• A Tanzania tourist visa (most US travelers can apply online through Tanzania's eVisa system before departure)
• Proof of onward or return travel
• Information about your accommodations and purpose of travel
• If traveling to Zanzibar, travelers may be required to purchase Zanzibar's mandatory inbound travel insurance policy
Yellow fever vaccination is only required if you are arriving from or transiting through a country with a risk of yellow fever transmission. Tanzania does not currently require any COVID-19 testing or vaccination for entry.
Please note, this list is geared toward US citizens traveling from the United States. Travelers holding a non-US passport should research their own specific entry requirements before booking.

Our Tanzania Safari is a culturally immersive experience that requires some additional considerations compared to many of Cherish's other destinations. We expect all travelers to be respectful of local cultures, traditions, and wildlife throughout the journey.
Safari days often include early mornings, several hours in a safari vehicle, and occasionally bumpy roads as we search for wildlife. The lodges we stay at are comfortable, charming, and thoughtfully selected, but they are not five-star luxury resorts (which we think is part of the adventure). Some accommodations may include mosquito nets and other features common to safari lodges.
We also believe travel can deepen our understanding of the world around us. During your time in Tanzania, you may encounter poverty and lifestyles that differ significantly from your own. We encourage travelers to approach these experiences with curiosity, respect, and an open mind.
Please inquire further or schedule a call with us if you have any questions about whether this trip is the right fit for you.

Absolutely! In fact, most Cherish travelers joining this adventure will be experiencing their first African safari. We've carefully designed this trip to balance adventure, comfort, cultural connection, and meaningful impact, making it an excellent introduction to Tanzania.
You'll be supported every step of the way by your Cherish guide, expert local safari guides, and a group of welcoming women who are just as excited about the experience as you are.
-
Absolutely. In fact, most Cherish travelers join us solo. Our trips are intentionally designed to create meaningful connections among women who share a love of travel, curiosity, and adventure.
Many travelers arrive without knowing anyone and leave with lifelong friendships. Whether you're outgoing or more reserved, you'll find a welcoming community and plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow travelers throughout the journey.

Yes! March is a wonderful time to visit Tanzania. The landscapes are lush and green following seasonal rains, wildlife viewing remains excellent, and the parks are often less crowded than during peak safari season.
March is also an exciting time in the Ndutu and Serengeti regions, where large herds of wildebeest, zebras, and other wildlife can often be found roaming the plains. Combined with comfortable temperatures and beautiful scenery, it creates a truly memorable safari experience.
-
For every Cherish trip, we provide a dedicated guide to travel alongside you for the duration of the journey. Our guides help facilitate the itinerary, coordinate with local partners, and ensure every traveler has an incredible experience. That’s why we call our team Memory Creators.
For Tanzania, your guide will be Mercy, a beloved Tanzanian guide who has traveled with Cherish groups in the past. Mercy brings warmth, local expertise, and a deep understanding of Tanzania’s culture, wildlife, and communities.
You’ll also be joined by expert local safari guides and community hosts throughout the journey.

This trip is considered moderately active, but no special fitness level is required. Most activities involve getting in and out of safari vehicles, walking short distances around lodges and communities, and navigating occasional uneven terrain.
The most physically demanding part of the trip is often the long safari days and time spent in vehicles rather than strenuous activity. Travelers should be comfortable sitting in a safari jeep for several hours at a time, walking at a relaxed pace, and participating in cultural experiences throughout the journey.
If you have specific mobility concerns, please reach out to us before booking so we can help determine whether this trip is a good fit.
